Just because we're different now than when we first became friends does not mean that our friendship wasn't what we valued it to be at the time. But to prolong pain is to prevent progress. Who's to say it's over and done? What we had was real, so I know for sure that it will always be a part of who I am. For now, maybe it's okay to go our separate ways. Maybe in the future our paths will cross again.
Never forget that the bond we built created a foundation for a lifetime friendship. And when it's time, everything will feel right again.
